The children's gardens have been growing vigorously over the summer with all the rain and a fine crop of beans, marrows, squashes, tomatoes and courgettes awaits the children on their return.

The sunshine has been welcome as we have worked to complete our new Reception Garden. This will provide a much larger space for the children to both work and play, with a large paved area and some new beds for the children's planting.

Richard Parks was our Guest of Honour this year at a most enjoyable Speech Day in the Cathedral. With contributions from our orchestra and band, our string quartet and 2 choirs, along with an appearance by the Junior Mayor (not to mention 2 strange green creatures who collected the House Cup), it was a very full morning. Richard spoke about some of the challgnes he has faced in preparation for his '737 Challenge' and what motivates him to keep going.

Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic afternoon learning all about growing and harvesting soft fruits, thanks to the generous hospitality of Mr and Mrs Snell. Starting with a tractor ride, we first went to learn how to pick raspberries, before moving on to pick our own punnet of strawberries each. With a homemade smoothie to finish and prizes for the best punnets, we had a most enjoyable time.

The Sports Hall was transformed for this year's junior school PTA Ball, with drinks on Old Deanery lawn in the evening sunshine to provide the perfect start to the evening. With a live band (or two!), the ball certainly went with a swing and was clearly enjoyed by all. Our thanks to our PTA for another fantastic event.
