Hereford Cathedral School receives excellent inspection report .
"Exemplary governance, visionary leadership and a committed, well-qualified staff have together created an extraordinarily supportive environment in which pupils' personal development is nurtured to outstanding levels." So concludes the 2008 Independent Schools Inspectorate report for the senior section of Hereford Cathedral School.
Headmaster, Paul Smith, said: ‘I am delighted with this report which highlights Hereford Cathedral School's core values. The school is already acknowledged for its high standards of teaching, pastoral care, learning and attainment, and so it is especially pleasing that these are all areas recognised as growing in strength. It is also gratifying that the inspection team rated the school's range of extracurricular activities as outstanding.'
"The school successfully fulfils its aim to nurture an enjoyment of learning and provide opportunities for all pupils to fulfil their potential."
Hereford Cathedral Junior School also received a very positive inspection report.
"The school provides a broad and varied educational experience. Throughout the school, pupils enjoy a caring and happy family ethos. They enjoy coming to school and often show excellent attitudes to learning."
As with the senior school, the Head, Tim Wheeler, is delighted that the report recognises the school's many strengths. "It is especially pleasing to be told we are a happy, caring school within which the children make good progress in lessons and excel beyond the classroom. The quality of pastoral care is rated outstanding and the report also highlights the high quality of relationships within the school as a significant factor in promoting pupils' learning."
It is clear from the report that the children benefit from the range and quality of all that the school has to offer and that this is delivered by a highly committed team of teachers.
"The school is successful in achieving its core aims to enable pupils to develop and make progress in both educational and personal terms."
The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspects schools according to a standard framework for inspection which it has laid down for the purposes of ensuring that standards are maintained and that the school complies with relevant legal requirements. This framework has been agreed with the Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and they have recognised the ISI as the body responsible for the regular inspection of schools in England which are affiliated to the Independent Schools Council (ISC).
