HCJS U11 A 14 v Abberley Hall U11 A 12 ½ (Georgina 3½, Lottie 2½, Mia 2, Ciera, Charley, Sophie and Flora 1½ each)

An extremely close match from the very beginning to the last ball.  Excellent focus was in evidence during the fielding innings, keeping the opposition’s score down; at half time it was 6 all. The team batted well, although at times they took too many risks and some found themselves out very quickly. Another superb team performance, with some good catches too.

HCJS U11A 19  v  Monmouth U11 A 9 ½  (Mia 4 ½, Georgina and Lottie 3, Ciera 3 ½, Charley 2 ½,  Sophie 1 ½, Charlie 1)

A superb display of organised fielding and tactical thinking kept down the score of the opposition and also led to us stumping and catching out a number of their players. The girls were thinking independently and were a very tight team on the diamond, even though we played with one fielder less. There were some fantastic hits and quick running around the posts to notch up a great score.

HCJS  U10 A 24 v  Monmouth U10 A 12 ½  (Bo 6 ½, Sophie 5 ½. Iona 5, Ella T 2, Ella F, Ruby 1 ½, Olivia 1, Rachel and Medi ½ each)

On a lovely summer’s day, the U10 A team began their rounders season against Monmouth. After extensive technical trials just covering fielding, we opted to field first. It proved a good decision as we held Monmouth in the first innings to only 8 ½ rounders (and they were a big hitting side). Mentions here must go out to Medi for blocking and catching and Olivia Tanton for stumping out 6 girls. We then stormed through with 14 ½ rounders,  6 resulting from debutant Iona Grahame’s powerful hits. The 2nd innings were no less entertaining and we kept them down to only 4 rounders before Iona  went on another batting rampage (6 again) supported by Bo ‘s special tactic of taking all hit “no balls” and getting to 2nd nearly every time. Iona won ‘Performance of the day’.

HCJS U10B 16 v Monmouth U10B 15 ½

For the first match of the season, the girls were understandably excited and ready to put some of their skills into practice. HCJS began the game fielding and showed some excellent teamwork. Imogen was a fantastic bowler, rarely throwing ‘no-balls’ and quick to stop Monmouth moving on to the next post. As backstop, Bethan worked well, responding quickly and getting the ball to Rebecca on second post with accuracy. As a result of their strong fielding, the HCJS team managed to get 5 girls out during the first innings. When batting, the girls showed determination and excellent judgement. In the second innings, HCJS started just ½ a point down and were eager to get the score back up to their advantage. The fielding remained strong, and as a result, HCJS took the lead. This was an excellent first match, well done girls!

HCJS  U10 C 5 ½ v Monmouth U10 C 7 ½  (Eloise 2, Millar 1 ½, Maddy and Megan 1)

MOOR PARK U11 ROUNDERS TOURNAMENT

HCJS 6 ½  v  Shrewsbury High Prep  4 ½ (Georgina 2 ½, Lottie 2, Harriet R 1 ½,  Ciera ½ )

HCJS 7  v  RGS The Grange 8 ½ (Georgina 2, Charlie, Lottie 1, Mia, Ciera, Georgia, Sophie, Harriet R, Harriet M ½ )

HCJS 3  v  Packwood Haugh  3 ½ (Mia, Lottie 1, Georgina, Charlie 1/2)

HCJS 4  v  Moor Park  4 (Georgina, Harriet R 1 ½, Mia 1)

HCJS U9 A  5  v  TDMCPS U9A 3  (Bronte Giddens 5)

An energetic game from the first whistle with our players very dominant and having most of the possession in this a 5-a-side game. Jemma was impressive in mid-court, with Marnie and Seyi working in a great partnership in defence. Bronte and India moved well around the court up towards the shooting area, with Evelyn providing excellent back up as the reserve, playing both as a keeper and a shooter. A super performance from the girls on a fantastic afternoon of sunshine

HCJS U10C 2 v Monmouth U10C 1(Rebecca Price, Abigail Soble)

HCJS got off to an excellent start and Rebecca managed to score within the first 5 minutes. It was a fast-paced match and, whilst Monmouth put up a good defence, HCJS appeared to be the more confident team. The girls demonstrated some excellent chains of pass, moving the ball down the court quickly. Ava was outstanding as Goal Keeper and worked well with Millar to stop Monmouth scoring too many goals. Abigail scored in the final quarter, bringing HCJS victory. The girls showed how much they had learnt since the beginning of term and played superbly. Well done girls!

Y5/6 HOUSE MATCHES

The girls put on a very pleasing display of Netball, with all Y5 and 6 girls performing really well for their houses, resulting in a competitive tournament during the dry afternoon at Gwynne Street, with 34 goals scored in total.

Results:            1st Matthews   2nd Oakeley    3rd Britten       4th Woodhall

St Richard’s Cross-Country race Tuesday 26th Feb 2013 PDF Print E-mail

A mixed team of twelve HCJS runners made the annual pilgrimage to the St Richard’s cross-country races. Ground conditions this time were a little kinder than in previous years, greatly improved by the lack of any real rain for the last two weeks, making the mud a nice grippy “plasticine consistency” . With just over a 100 runners in the combined start for the boys and girls race, it was the usual fast and furious start down the hill towards the lake. A great team effort from the boys saw them finish 3rd team overall out of ten teams while the girls team finished in a solid 7th place. Special mention to Charley who unluckily twisted her ankle just after the start and had to pull out of the race.

Aidan Webb 7th, Miles Newall 9th, Billy Turner 15th, Luke Tulacz 23rd, Jonathan Snell 30th, Jasper Linley-Adams 44th

Ciara Wheeler 17th, Harriet Reese 34th, Sophie Lavender 35th, Lucy Matthews 36th, Fleur Berry-Jones 37th, Charley Dallow dnf
