Part of a truly co-educational independent day school for ages 3 - 18
Hereford Cathedral Junior School, lies at the centre of the Cathedral City of Hereford, in one of the most rural and unspoilt counties of England.
Hereford Cathedral Junior School is a co-educational day school for children aged from 3 - 11 years old. The Nursery and Pre-Prep Department caters for children aged 3 - 7 years old after which the children enter the Junior Department until the age of 11.
Hereford Cathedral Junior School is, with Hereford Cathedral School, part of the ancient Hereford Cathedral Foundation dating back to 676. The History of the school is a long and distinguished one with the first written records dating back to 1384. The Junior School was founded as an independent school in 1898 and since 1987 it has been under the aegis of the Governors of Hereford Cathedral School.
The school occupies a number of Medieval and Georgian buildings along Castle Street at the east end of the Cathedral, with games' fields (Wyeside) a short walk away by the River Wye. There has been considerable development over recent years and current numbers are just under 300.The Headmaster is a member of IAPS and the school has high academic standards with the majority of leavers moving to HCS. The school is also noted for a happy and caring atmosphere with a respected position in the local community.
